Russian saboteur, who set fire to electric substations, detained in Cherkasy Region

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) detained a saboteur who, on the task of the intelligence of the aggressor country of the russian federation, committed a series of arson attacks on energy facilities in the Cherkasy Region. The attacker tried to destroy 8 electrical substations and one relay box in different places of the Uman district.

This is stated in the notification of the SSU.

As reported, in this way, the enemy planned to de-energize most of the community and block railway traffic in the region.

According to the case materials, the enemy agent turned out to be a 20-year-old local resident who was looking for "easy money" on the Internet.

In order to fulfill the enemy's task, the attacker first established the locations of the "required" energy facilities and prepared the tools for committing the crime.

He was then documented breaking into transformer substations in order to pour gasoline on the process equipment and set it on fire.

In the event of the destruction of the "targets", the special service of the russian federation promised its henchman money, which was to be transferred to his bank card.

At the final stage of the special operation, the SSU officers arrested the saboteur red-handed when he tried to destroy a new energy facility.

During the search, a gasoline canister and a mobile phone with evidence of his correspondence with the aggressor were found in the detainee's possession.

So far, investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine have served the detainee with suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 2 of Article 113 (sabotage committed under martial law);
  • Part 2 of Article 194-1 (deliberate damage to electricity facilities).

The perpetrator is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, law enforcement officers neutralized an FSB agent group that was preparing to set fire to shopping centers in the European Union.
