Ukraine rose from 22nd to 21st place in the ranking of the international association, Worldsteel, by the volume of steel production in the first half of 2024.
This follows from a statement by the Ukrmetalurgprom association, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
According to him, according to the results of production in the first half of 2024, Ukraine took the 21st position among 71 steel-producing countries with a result of 3.87 million tons, up 37% year over year.
The first place traditionally belongs to China: Chinese metallurgists smelted 530.57 million tons, down 1.1% year over year.
China's share in world steel production is 55.6%.
The second place belongs to India (up 7.4% to 74.2 million tons), the third place to Japan (down 2.6% to 42.7 million tons), the fourth place to the USA (down 2.4% to 40 million tons), the fifth - russia (down 3% to 36.8 million tons), the sixth - South Korea (down 6.4% to 31.5 million tons), the seventh - Germany (up 4 .5% to 19.4 million tons), eighth - Turkey (up 17% to 18.6 million tons), ninth - Iran (up 5.9% to 16.6 million tons), and tenth - Brazil (up 2.4% to 16.4 million tons).
In the first half of 2024, global steel production amounted to 954.62 million tons, down 0.01% year over year.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukraine took 23rd place in the Worldsteel ranking in terms of steel production in 2023.
