China excludes russia from long-haul airliner development project

Russia was excluded from the development of the long-haul C929 wide-body passenger liner. Initially, the russian federation worked together with China on the project.

This was reported by BBC News with reference to representatives of the Chinese corporation COMAC, which is engaged in the development of the liner.

At its stand at the Farnborough International Air Show, the COMAC Corporation presented the C929 model. Russia was not mentioned in the description of the plane.

It is noted that earlier the project was called CR929. The russian corporation "Rostec" declared that the letters C and R stand for China and russia. Now the letter R has disappeared from the name of the liner.

According to an unnamed representative of COMAC, the Chinese corporation did start working on the aircraft project alone.

At the same time, he did not specify what was the reason for russia's withdrawal from the aircraft development project.

Comac employees at the company's stand at the air show also declined to comment.

BBC News notes that development of the CR929 began amid sanctions against russia for its occupation of Crimea in 2014.

After the start of the full-scale invasion, due to international sanctions, russia was left without access to the supply of spare parts for civil aviation aircraft.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, information appeared on the Internet earlier this month that Turkey helped russia import 3 business jets, despite the ban on their purchase due to sanctions.

It will be recalled that in the fall of 2022, in russia, it was proposed to repair aircraft "seized" in the West with the help of non-original spare parts.
