Kamala Harris collects record-breaking USD 81 million for election campaign in one day

Kamala Harris' team announced a historic record of fundraising for her campaign in one day - the amount reached USD 81 million.

The Associated Press writes about it.

Harris campaign spokesman Kevin Munoz announced that more than USD 81 million had been donated to the Harris campaign in the day since Joe Biden announced his withdrawal.

This amount is called the largest daily result in the 2024 campaign.

The Harris campaign noted that it is also the all-time record for daily campaign contributions in US history. Contributions were made by 888,000 donors, and for half a million of them it was the first contribution in the framework of the 2024 campaign.

The result bolsters the odds that Kamala Harris will win the Democratic nomination at the convention in August.

It is known that due to growing doubts about Joe Biden's candidacy, the vast majority of the party's biggest donors wanted him to withdraw from the election.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 21, Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential race, in which Donald Trump was supposed to be his opponent.

He later posted a message in which he said he supported Vice President Kamala Harris' candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Meanwhile, Biden said that he will not resign and will continue to perform the duties of the head of state until the end of his term.
