On the night of July 21, 2024, the aggressor state of the russian federation attacked the territory of Ukraine with three Iskander-M ballistic missiles, two Kh-59 guided air missiles and 39 Shahed type UAVs - 35 of them were shot down.
The press service of the Air Force of Ukraine has reported this.
Electronic warfare managed to neutralize the Kh-59/69 missiles before they reached their targets. Air defense forces coped with the Shaheds. However, the fate of the Iskanders has not been reported.
It is known that the enemy fired missiles from the Kursk Region and the Crimea. And drones attacked Ukraine from three directions: Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and occupied Crimea.
During the night attack, the radio engineering troops of the Air Force identified and escorted air targets in more than 10 regions of Ukraine.
Air defense worked in the Sumy, Poltava, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Cherkasy Regions.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the wreckage of the drones fell on the territory of the Kyiv Region, but did not cause any damage. The fire that started as a result of the fall was quickly extinguished.
Air defense forces shot down 13 of 17 drones and none of the four missiles launched by russia on the night of July 20.
