By exerting pressure on russia, it is possible to achieve a diplomatic settlement of the war in Ukraine - territories are not always recaptured by force.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this in an interview with the BBC.
He noted that the whole world should put pressure on russia to persuade it to sit down at the negotiating table and consider the possibility of ending the war.
"This does not mean that all territories are won back by force. I think that the power of diplomacy can help," he said, adding that a weaker russia on the battlefield will put Ukraine in a stronger position at the negotiating table.
"Putting pressure on russia, I believe that it is possible to agree to a diplomatic settlement," the president said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 17, the adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, Mykhailo Podoliak, said that the aggressor country, russia, could be invited to the second peace summit.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of State commented on Ukraine's idea of rRussia's participation in the second peace summit.
At the same time, the Kremlin's tough and uncompromising conditions for peace talks actually mean Ukraine's capitulation and testify to Vladimir Putin's reluctance to conduct honest negotiations on any terms other than russian ones.
