Today, July 18, Ukraine and the Czech Republic signed a ten-year security agreement.
This is stated in a message on the website of the Office of the President.
Thus, it is reported that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala signed the agreement in Woodstock in the United Kingdom.
As noted, since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion, the Czech Republic has provided military aid to Ukraine in the amount of about EUR 400 million and will continue to support it with the same dynamics during the 10 years of the document's validity. The Czech Republic will also study options for the supply of additional military equipment, taking into account the needs of our country.
In addition, a significant part of the agreement is devoted to enhanced cooperation in the military-technical sphere, primarily small- and large-caliber ammunition, small arms and light weapons production capabilities, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, electronic warfare and heavy equipment. The Czech Republic will continue to help our country within its initiative to supply 155 mm and 122 mm artillery shells with the support of partner countries. In addition, Ukraine and the Czech Republic will strengthen industrial capacities for the production of ammunition on their territories, as well as create joint enterprises.
The countries will continue the joint annual training of about 4,000 Ukrainian defenders – this year and beyond within the framework of the EU Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM).
A feature of cooperation in the non-military sphere is the partnership of the Czech Republic with the city of Dnipro and the Dnipropetrovsk Region for recovery, reconstruction and sustainable development. The Czech Republic also intends to open a diplomatic mission in Dnipro to strengthen cooperation and assistance.
Humanitarian support from the Czech Republic provides financial and material assistance for civil protection and war-affected Ukrainians, including internally displaced persons.
The Czech Republic also clearly confirms its support for Ukraine's future membership in the EU and NATO.
It is emphasized that Ukraine and the Czech Republic signed a security agreement to implement the G7 Joint Declaration on Support for Ukraine, adopted last year in Vilnius on July 12. In total, the state has already signed 24 security agreements.
Earlier, the Ukrainian News agency reported that on Thursday, July 18, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the United Kingdom to participate in the summit of the European Political Community and sign new security agreements.
