Government bans turning off lights in number of settlements

In the front-line territories of Ukraine, as well as in the 20-kilometer zone near the border with russia and Belarus, it is now officially forbidden to turn off the lights.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has announced this.

According to him, the frontline and border areas depend too much on the state of energy. However, due to the russian terror and abnormal heat, a constant shortage of capacity is recorded, so Ukrenergo is forced to limit consumers.

"Under these conditions, society's request is justice in the distribution of available electricity. The government responds to this request and forms a list of critically important objects that are guaranteed priority electricity supply. Based on the result of communication with regional military administrations, we will specify this list," the prime minister said.

Critically important facilities include gas, heat, electricity, water supply and drainage facilities, hospitals.

"Today we also add a rule that the power will not be cut off in population centers, as well as objects in a 20-kilometer zone from the border with Russia, Belarus and 20 kilometers from the front-line zone," the head of government said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukrenergo introduced emergency power outages in the Dnipropetrovsk Region.

In Kyiv, on July 17 due to a shortage of electricity, blackouts will be applied in the gray and light gray areas of the graphs.
