If power outages due to electricity shortages continue at the current level, this will cause higher prices for dairy, meat and bakery products.
This was announced by the Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council, Denys Marchuk, Agronews writes.
Marchuk noted that the energy industry suffered serious losses, which is why animal husbandry suffers the most. According to him, all processes from milking to milk storage require electricity, since the entire dairy farm is connected to generation. A farm of 500 heads needs up to 100 kW for 1 hour, which requires a lot of diesel fuel.
"Accordingly, the costly part is increasing, and today the milk purchased for June-July has already increased by 3-5%. The same applies to the processing industry... If power outages continue at the same level, this will lead to an increase in milk, meat and bakery products prices," Marchuk said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 10, the president of the All-Ukrainian Association of Bakers, Yurii Duchenko, said that the price of bread may rise in Ukraine in the near future.
According to manufacturers, power outages can lead to higher prices for bread, confectionery and dairy products.
