The Verkhovna Rada has approved in the second reading bill No. 11355 "On integrated prevention and control of industrial pollution".
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources announced this, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Today is a very important day in the formation of the European integration environmental legislation of Ukraine. 256 votes "for" the adoption of the framework bill "On integrated prevention and control of industrial pollution", which implements Directive 2010/75/EU," said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets.
According to him, the law on eco-modernization of industrial enterprises was repeatedly brought to voting and did not receive approval, while discussions around this initiative lasted for more than 10 years.
"This law is not only about the introduction of the best available technologies and management methods (BAT). It is about the civilized rules of the game, transparency and digital management tools. Therefore - a green post-war recovery of industry, a clean environment and improving the living conditions of the Ukrainian people. Law on ecological modernization opens the way to international financing for the restoration of our industrial enterprises. We are becoming equal partners of European countries in the formation of climate policy. We will be able to use mechanisms that will allow us to avoid international restrictions, such as the CBAM.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in June 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the procedure for maintaining a national register of emissions and transfers of pollutants.
