MP Bezuhla recalled from national security committee’s subcommittee chair post

Verkhovna Rada member from the Servant of the People faction, deputy head of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence Mariana Bezuhla was recalled from the post of the head of the subcommittee on democratic civil oversight and control.

The press service of the European Solidarity faction announced this on a Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"The national security, defense and intelligence committee decided to recall Mariana Bezuhla from the (position of) the head of the subcommittee on democratic civil control," the statement said.

The European Solidarity MP Iryna Herashchenko noted that Bezuhla's recall took place at the initiative of Iryna Friz, a member of the national security committee.

Herashchenko added that the removal of Bezuhla from the position of the deputy head of the committee on national security is blocked by the Office of the President, so the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada does not bring the corresponding draft resolution to the voting.

Bezuhla herself stated on her Facebook page that she considers her removal "the committee's reaction to the truth about the problems in the Armed Forces of Ukraine."

She stated that in practice the subcommittee did not exist, because no other parliamentarians had entered it since its creation.

"Colleagues, the subcommittee does not exist, because you did not join it. There is nothing to recall from. Our committee practically does not exist. You hid and created your own pocket subcommittees and everyone voted happily. The absolute majority of these "subcommittees" do not even have meetings, not to speak of solutions. For business cards," wrote Bezuhla.

She emphasized that she remains the deputy head of the committee on national security.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in February the Verkhovna Rada refused to submit to the session hall a draft resolution on the dismissal of Bezuhla from the post of the deputy chairperson of the committee on national security, defense and intelligence.

In November 2023, Bezuhla headed the newly formed subcommittee on democratic civil oversight and control in the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence.
