On Friday, July 12, hourly electricity blackout schedules are in effect in all regions of Ukraine throughout the day, while oblenergos will apply 4 turns of blackouts from 2 p.m. to 12 a.m.
The press service of Ukrenergo has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"On July 12, oblenergos apply consumption restrictions throughout the day. From 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., to compensate for the energy deficit in the system, four turns of hourly blackout schedules will be used, at other times - three turns. We remind you that consumers of each region who do not belong to the list of critical infrastructure facilities, were divided into 6 turns (groups). The application of restrictions to three turns means that there are hourly outage schedules for half of the consumers in each region. Four turns are restrictions for up to 70% of consumers in each region,” the message says.
It is noted that electricity consumption reached maximum volumes for the summer period.
"The reason is abnormal heat in Ukraine and Europe with a significant energy deficit in the Ukrainian power system as a result of massive russian strikes...The temperature in the country exceeds +33 degrees. According to the forecast of the Ukrenergo Dispatch Center, today at the maximum consumption will remain high and significantly exceed the available capacity in the system to cover it," the message says.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the State Energy Supervision Inspectorate of Ukraine will thoroughly check the use by distribution system operators (oblenergos) of schedules of hourly outages and fair distribution of electricity in the regions.
