In Washington, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis signed the Agreement on cooperation in the field of security between Ukraine and Romania.
The Office of the President has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
According to the agreements, Romania will transfer a Patriot system to Ukraine, support Ukraine with the same dynamics as during 2022-2024, and also facilitate the fastest possible transit of all necessary equipment through its territory to Ukraine.
The Office notes that a feature of this agreement are specific points of cooperation to strengthen security in the Black Sea region, Romania will assist Ukraine in demining the Black Sea and provide support through EU and NATO instruments.
Bucharest, together with its partners, will also assist the F-16 training center to train Ukrainian pilots, thereby contributing to the coalition's air force capabilities.
Romania will also support Ukraine's defense industry.
Separate blocks of the document relate to intelligence and counterintelligence, cyber security, information security, humanitarian demining, sanctions, recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine.
In addition, the agreement establishes a 24-hour emergency response mechanism in the event of repeated russian aggression against Ukraine or a significant escalation.
Ukraine and Romania concluded a security agreement to implement the G7 Joint Declaration on Support for Ukraine dated July 12, 2023.
In total, Ukraine has already signed 23 bilateral security agreements: with the UK, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Japan, the U.S., the EU, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Luxembourg and Romania.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 10, Ukraine concluded a security agreement with Luxembourg.
