SSU and NABU take up Shmyhal regarding extortion and smuggling at customs - blogger

Searches of the acting head of the State Customs Service, Serhii Zviahintsev, may lead the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

Political scientist Volodymyr Soniuk announced this in his blog.

"Very bad news for Denys Shmyhal: the SSU and NABU conducted searches of his protégé, acting head of the State Customs Service Serhii Zviahintsev in the case of extortion of "toll" for the appointment of heads of regional customs," the blogger noted.

He recalled that the media had repeatedly reported that Zviahintsev was Shmyhal's man, who actively promoted his people to key positions in the customs.

"In the context of the SSU and NABU case, everything looks like the Security Service and the Anticorr Bureau focused not only on the "pawn" Zviahintsev, but also on his "roof" - Prime Minister Shmyhal. Probably, the actions of the Prime Minister have already fed up with everyone, including anti-corruption structures, law enforcement agencies and the President's Office," Soniuk wrote.

According to him, another official accused of corruption, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Vasyl Lozynskyi, also indicated in the investigation materials the need for "coordination at the top", referring to the Prime Minister.

"Let me remind you that Shmyhal's friend, Lozynskyi, is accused of receiving a bribe for the purchase of generators at an inflated price, while the whole country is preparing for the winter apocalypse," the blogger stated.
