The first tranche of profits from frozen russian assets will be received by Ukraine at the beginning of August. The funds will be spent on defense needs.
This follows from a statement by the Minister of Defense, Rustem Umierov, posted on Facebook.
The official noted that Ukraine has already agreed with the European Union that the first tranche will be spent in three directions.
It is about the purchase of ammunition, air defense equipment, as well as support for Ukrainian manufacturers.
"It is important to note that EU-financed goods must be delivered to Ukraine by the end of 2024. These decisions are extremely important for strengthening our defense capabilities and supporting Ukrainian manufacturers," Umierov emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the G7 agreed to provide Ukraine with USD 50 billion in credit funds from the proceeds of frozen russian assets.
It was also reported at the end of June that next week, Ukraine would receive EUR 2.5 billion from the revenues from the frozen assets of the aggressor country of the russian federation.
The financial leadership of the G7 countries at the meeting in Marrakesh, where the annual session of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is held, agreed on the approach to the use of blocked russian assets the night before, expressing "unwavering support" for Ukraine.
