Steel production up 37% to 3.9 million tons in H1, 2024

In the first six months of 2024, steel production increased by 37%, or by 1,045,000 tons, year over year to 3,874,000 tons.

This is stated in the information published on the website of the smelters association, Ukrmetalurgprom, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Over the six months, compared to the same period last year, the production of pig iron increased by 22.3%, or by 631,000 tons, to 3,467,000 tons, the production of rolled products - by 32.2%, or by 766,000 tons, up to 3,140,000 tons.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2023, steel production decreased by 0.6% year over year to 6,228,000 tons.

At the same time, the production of pig iron decreased by 6.1% to 6,003,000 tons, and the production of rolled products increased by 0.4% to 5,372,000 tons.

In 2022, steel production decreased 3.4 times year over year to 6,263,000 tons.
