As of the end of 2023, the Young Pioneers of China had approximately 114.8 million members, according to the Central Committee of the Communist Youth Union of China (CYU).

There are 276,000 grassroots committees for the work of pioneering organizations in the country, 190,000 of which work in primary and secondary schools, the Communist Youth League of China reported.
Since its founding in 1949, the Chinese Communist Party-led Young Pioneers of China has played an important role in promoting the healthy growth of children.
All Chinese children between the ages of 6 and 14 are eligible to join the Young Pioneers of China.
