In the first five months of 2024, steel production increased by 31.2%, or by 747,000 tons, year over year to 3,139,000 tons.
This is stated in the information published on the website of the smelters association, Ukrmetalurgprom, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
In 5M, compared to the same period last year, the production of pig iron increased by 20.8%, or by 489,000 tons, to 2,839,000 tons, the production of rolled products - by 29.5%, or by 586,000 tons, up to 2,568,000 tons.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2023, steel production decreased by 0.6% year over year to 6,228,000 tons.
At the same time, the production of pig iron decreased by 6.1% to 6,003,000 tons, and the production of rolled products increased by 0.4% to 5,372,000 tons.
In 2022, steel production decreased 3.4 times year over year to 6,263,000 tons.
