AFU repel 45 attacks on Avdiyivka Axis and 26 on Bakhmut Axis – General Staff

On May 8, a total of 146 combat clashes took place at the front; the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) repelled most of the enemy attacks on the Avdiyivka (45) and Bakhmut (26) Axes.

This follows from a statement by the General Staff of the AFU posted on its Facebook page, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Over the past 24 hours, the enemy launched 60 missile- and 90 airstrikes and fired 107 rockets on the positions of our troops and populated areas using MLRSes.

During the day, 146 combat clashes took place at the front.

On the Kupiyansk Axis, Ukrainian defenders repelled 16 attacks in the areas of Petropavlivka, Synkivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove settlements in the Kharkiv Region and Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk Region.

On the Lyman Axis, the Defense Forces repelled 11 enemy attacks in the areas of Makiyivka, Nevske, Novoliubivka, Tverdokhlibove, and the Serebrianske Forestry in the Luhansk Region.

On the Bakhmut Axis, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 26 enemy attacks near the settlements of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk Region and Andriyivka, Verkhniokamiyanske, Novyi, Vyimka, Ivanivske, and Klishchiyivka in the Donetsk Region.

On the Avdiyivka Axis, Ukrainian defenders repelled 45 attacks by the occupiers in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Yevhenivka, Sokil, Novoselivka Persha, Kalynove, Novopokrovske, Semenivka, Umanske, Netailove, and Nevelske settlements of the Donetsk Region.

On the Novopavlivsk Axis, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka, Paraskoviyivka, Vodiane, and Urozhaine settlements of the Donetsk Region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the defense of our troops 11 times.

On the Orikhiv Axis, the enemy attacked AFU positions 19 times in the Staromayorske District of the Donetsk Region.

On the Kherson Axis, the enemy does not give up its intention to knock out the Ukrainian units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnieper River. During the past day, he carried out four unsuccessful attacks on the positions of our troops.

During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces and units of the missile forces struck three anti-aircraft defense facilities, two artillery facilities, ten personnel concentration areas, and one other important enemy facility.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 7, a total of 84 combat clashes took place at the front. The AFU repelled most of the enemy attacks on the Avdiyivka (27), Bakhmut (17) and Kupiyansk (16) Axes.
