The aggregate state (direct and guaranteed) debt of Ukraine in March compared to the previous month increased by 5.1%, or by USD 7.36 billion, to USD 151.05 billion, which is a historical maximum.
This is stated in the data of the Ministry of Finance, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
State and state-guaranteed debt at the end of March amounted to UAH 5,924.25 billion, or USD 151.05 billion, against UAH 5,490.1 billion, or USD 143.7 billion, a month earlier.
The total amount of direct government debt as of the reporting date was UAH 5,612.55 billion (USD 143.1 billion) against UAH 5,167.41 billion (USD 135.25 billion) a month earlier.
At the same time, the direct foreign debt increased from USD 93.41 billion to USD 101.85 billion for the month.
Direct domestic debt increased in hryvnia equivalent from UAH 1,598.39 billion to UAH 1,617.8 billion (in dollar terms it decreased from USD 41.83 billion to USD 41.25 billion).
The state-guaranteed debt at the end of the reporting month amounted to UAH 311.7 billion, or USD 7.95 billion.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the total state (direct and guaranteed) debt of Ukraine for 2023 increased by 30.4% or USD 33.87 billion to a record-breaking USD 145.32 billion.
In 2022, the total state debt increased by USD 13.39 billion, or 13.66%, to USD 111.34 billion.
In 2021, the state debt increased by 8.52%, or USD 7.69 billion, to USD 97.95 billion.
In 2020, the total state debt increased by 6.9%, from USD 84.4 billion to USD 90.3 billion.
