Yana Vadymivna Zinkevych is a medical volunteer, a participant in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO), a veteran, the founder and commander of the "Hospitaliers" volunteer medical battalion, and a member of the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation representing the European Solidarity party.
She was born on July 2, 1995, in Rivne.
Education
She graduated from the “Collegium” Educational Complex in Rivne and enrolled at the Dnipro State Medical Academy in 2017.
War
In 2014, at the age of 19, Zinkevych went to the front as a volunteer medic with the Right Sector battalion. She served as head of the Medical and Rehabilitation Department for fighters of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army (until 2016—the Right Sector Volunteer Corps).
She founded and commanded the “Hospitaliers” medical battalion, which evacuated over 3,200 wounded soldiers during the war in eastern Ukraine. During the active phase of the ATO/JFO, Zinkevych personally saved over 200 wounded Ukrainian soldiers.
In March 2015, Zinkevych opened a training center for military paramedics in Pavlohrad (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast).
In February 2019, at her initiative, the municipal enterprise “Dnipro Hospitaliers” was established under the Dnipro City Council. Zinkevych became its director. The enterprise conducts courses on providing first aid.
Disability
In December 2015, on the Dnipro-Donetsk highway, a vehicle belonging to the “Hospitaliers” medical battalion, driven by Zinkevych’s deputy Maksym Korablyov (“Strilok”), was involved in a car accident, rolling over seven times. Zinkevych was thrown from the vehicle, sustaining a complete spinal fracture, paraplegia, fractures of half her ribs and collarbone, internal organ damage, hemopneumothorax, and contusions of the heart and lungs; she spent several months in the hospital, including treatment in Israel. Following her treatment, she has a permanent disability and uses a wheelchair.
Political Career
In the July 2019 elections to the Verkhovna Rada, she was elected as a People’s Deputy from the European Solidarity party (No. 7 on the list, independent). She was elected secretary of the Rada Committee on National Health, Medical Care, and Health Insurance, and chair of the Subcommittee on Military Medicine. She combines commanding the "Hospitaliers" battalion with her work in the Verkhovna Rada.
In March 2023, Zinkevych was admitted to the intensive care unit due to exhaustion.
Scandals
In March 2026, Zinkevych found herself at the center of a scandal involving donations from Ukrainians: she was accused of embezzling donations. At the time, Zinkevych acknowledged that reports on the use of the collected funds “were not submitted in full due to a high operational workload and complex logistics” and promised to provide complete reports.
Family
Second husband Ilya Sapozhko.
In May 2016, Zinkevich married her deputy in the “Hospitaliers” medical battalion, Maksym Korablyov, keeping her maiden name. In October 2016, she gave birth to a daughter, Bohdana. In November 2016, a few days after giving birth, her husband left the family after five months of marriage, leaving Zinkevych with the child. In January 2017, she received an official divorce.
