From December 2017 to May 2019, he served as the state representative on the supervisory board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine.
In 2016, he became head of the project management office at Ukrenergo, later becoming Deputy Director for Investments and First Deputy Chairman of the Board. Since February 27, 2020, he has served as Acting Chairman of the Board.
On August 2, 2020, the supervisory board of Ukrenergo appointed Kudrytskyi as chairman of the board, after which he continued the integration of Ukraine’s power grid into ENTSO-E.
In late 2021, the new Minister of Energy, Herman Halushchenko, attempted to remove Kudrytskyi from his position as Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo, which led to a conflict. Kudrytskyi joined Ukrenergo from Ukrtransnafta, which was controlled by Kolomoyskyi; this occurred during a confrontation with the then-head of Ukrenergo, Vsevolod Kovalchuk.
Over 50 billion hryvnias were spent on the construction of shelters to protect critical infrastructure. The main recipients of the funds were the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development, overseen by former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov, and Ukrenergo under Kudrytskyi’s leadership.
According to the publication "Nashi Hroshi," between August 14 and September 4, 2023, Ukrenergo signed a series of agreements worth 2.8 billion hryvnias. And in September 2023, the government allocated an additional 9.7 billion hryvnias to protect strategic energy facilities.
In response to a media inquiry regarding salaries at the company, Ukrenergo stated that the law does not require salaries to be disclosed “individually,” so Kudrytskyi’s income was not specified.
On September 2, 2024, the supervisory board dismissed Kudrytskyi from his position as chairman of NPC "Ukrenergo." State-appointed members Yuriy Tokarskyi, Oleksandr Baranyuk, and Yuriy Boiko, as well as one independent member, Roman Pionkovsky, voted in favor of the dismissal. Peder Andreassen and Daniel Dobbini voted against the dismissal. On September 3, Peder Andreassen and Daniel Dobbini submitted requests for early termination of their terms and stated that Kudrytskyi’s dismissal was politically motivated and unfounded.
Prior to the dismissal, EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova and international donors urged that no decisions be made until the supervisory board was fully formed.
On October 28, 2025, the State Bureau of Investigation detained Volodymyr Kudrytskyi on suspicion of fraudulently misappropriating funds from the state-owned enterprise NPC "Ukrenergo."
