Education
Born June 14, 1971, in Chernivtsi. Since childhood, he was fond of mountains and active sports. During his teenage years his hobby evolved into a serious pursuit of mountaineering. Since 1986, he has been training professionally under the guidance of coach Serhii Kosohorov.
In 1990, he graduated from the Kryukiv Mechanical Engineering College. Starting in 2002, he studied at the Kremenchuk Polytechnic University, specializing in mechanical engineering. He later completed postgraduate studies in enterprise economics at the same institution. In 2013, he earned a PhD in Law, and in 2019, he obtained a Doctorate in Law in administrative law and process from the Institute of Legislation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Career
He began working in 1988 as an electric welder at the KremenchukHousing and Construction Plant.
Then he worked in various commercial companies, becoming the CEO of Kremenchuk Oil Company P.K.R. LLC in 1997, and in the early 2000s, he led the MiS company. From 2008, he served as Deputy CEO of Zhytloinwest LLC. Together with his wife Oksana, he founded a number of diverse businesses, including retail, restaurant and hotel, and flower businesses. Years later, the family business also expanded to European countries.
Between 2010 and 2012, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
In April 2012, following a decision by the general meeting of shareholders, Ihor Kushnir was appointed Chairman of the Board and President of the Kyivmiskbud Holding Company. Under his leadership, the company implemented more than a hundred construction projects, ranging from residential complexes to social infrastructure facilities.
In 2019, he was re-elected to his position.
In 2023, a scandal erupted around the company as a result of economic difficulties that arose against the backdrop of quarantine due to the coronavirus, and later a full-scale invasion, Kyivmiskbud was experiencing difficulties with financing and completing the construction of residential complexes. A number of inspections and audits were scheduled.
As a result, the auditors concluded that the company was experiencing difficulties precisely because of the economic crisis, as well as the "Ukrbud factor" — the completion of its facilities was entrusted to Kyivmiskbud. The work of the company's management was recognized as legal and decent.
In December 2023, Ihor Kushnir voluntarily resigned from the position of president of Kyivmiskbud.
