Ukraine intends to destroy the Crimea bridge illegally built by the russians, but it will be destroyed only when the situation requires it.

The spokesman of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, captain 3rd rank Dmytro Pletenchuk, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

Pletenchuk was asked why the Defense Forces of Ukraine will not destroy the Crimea bridge, which is one of the main logistical routes of the russians.

"Unlike the russians, we do not suffer from symbolism. This helps a lot when conducting hostilities with limited resources. If they have the task of capturing something somewhere on the birthday of the so-called president of the russian federation, then we don't have that," Pletenchuk replied.

According to him, it makes no sense to destroy the Crimea bridge solely to "raise the mood".

He added that the Ukrainian military will definitely destroy the bridge when it becomes necessary to cut off russian logistics routes and turn the temporarily occupied Crimea into an island.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the last major attack by the Defense Forces of Ukraine on the Crimea bridge took place on July 17, 2023.

Then, as a result of several powerful explosions, one of the spans of the automobile part of the bridge collapsed.
