European Union countries have reached an impasse in their discussions regarding the planned 21st package of sanctions against russia, the aggressor nation. There are several possible scenarios, including the complete abandonment of this package.

Unnamed sources told the agency that discussions on the 21stst package of sanctions reached an impasse last week after Greece opposed proposals that would restrict European companies’ ability to transport russian liquefied natural gas to third countries.
According to them, European countries are currently discussing three options: granting a 24-month transition period before the restrictions take effect, completely abandoning this measure, or scrapping the entire sanctions package.
The European Union has also considered extending existing contracts as a potential compromise. Sources added that the price cap freeze could be extended even if no agreement is reached on the other proposals.
A new meeting of EU ambassadors will take place this week, where they will continue discussions on the sanctions package.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 15, Reuters reported, citing sources, that EU countries were unable to agree on the 21st package of sanctions against russia.
As a reminder, on July 17, the European Union imposed sanctions against russia for the massive strikes on Kyiv earlier this month.
