US initiative to end war between Ukraine and russia has hit dead end - Bloomberg

The US-led initiative to end the war between the aggressor country of russia and Ukraine is facing numerous difficulties and has hit a dead end.

This is stated in the material of the Bloomberg agency, which was published yesterday, August 21.

According to the agency, officials from Ukraine, the United States and Europe have begun discussing proposals for a post-war plan for Ukraine's defense after Washington said that russian dictator vladimir putin is ready to provide Kyiv with security guarantees similar to NATO's Article 5.

However, the Kremlin has not publicly confirmed the information that putin has indeed made such a commitment. Moreover, on Wednesday, August 20, russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow should have a say in Ukraine's security issues. He also said that China should also be one of the security guarantors.

The next day, August 21, Lavrov said that russia had supported Ukraine's proposal at the 2022 Istanbul talks, which allegedly included the participation of the United States, russia, China, the United Kingdom and France in security guarantees.

The unnamed Bloomberg interlocutors said that they viewed Lavrov's comments as Moscow's attempt to drag out the negotiation process once again. They also expressed doubts that putin was really ready to make a deal.

One European official told the agency that russia's refusal to comply with US demands for security guarantees for Ukraine had effectively broken off talks between Moscow and Washington.

He believes that the Kremlin may now try to convince the White House to drop the demand for security guarantees for Ukraine and instead of putin's meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, organize a much lower-level summit.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, yesterday, August 21, The Guardian, citing its own sources, wrote that US President Donald Trump intends to refuse to organize a meeting between Zelenskyy and putin.
