EU to prepare new sanctions against russia's military economy — Kallas
The European Union will continue to impose sanctions aimed at the military economy of the aggressor country, russia. A new package of restrictions should be ready by September.
The head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, has announced this.
According to her, the European Union remains committed to establishing a lasting peace that protects the vital security interests of Ukraine and Europe.
"Putin cannot be trusted to honour any promise or commitment. Therefore, security guarantees must be strong and credible enough to deter Russia from re-grouping and re-attacking," she wrote on X (Twitter).
She emphasized that the European Union will contribute to these security guarantees, in particular by training Ukrainian soldiers and strengthening the country's armed forces and defense industry.
In addition, the European Union will continue to impose sanctions against russia's military economy.
"The next sanctions package against Moscow should be ready by next month," Kallas added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, due to US sanctions, putin's delegation was forced to take suitcases of cash to Alaska to pay for refueling their planes.
As a reminder, on August 11, US President Donald Trump explained why he had not tightened sanctions against russia, which he had repeatedly said in July and early August.
