Pentagon officially announces sending additional weapons to Ukraine at Trump's direction
The United States is sending additional defensive weapons to Ukraine at the direction of President Donald Trump.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell has stated this, according to the Pentagon's official website.
"At President Trump's direction, the Department of Defense is sending additional defensive weapons to Ukraine to ensure the Ukrainians can defend themselves while we work to secure a lasting peace and ensure the killing stops. Our framework for POTUS to evaluate military shipments across the globe remains in effect and is integral to our America First defense priorities," the Pentagon said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, it was officially reported following a phone call on July 4 that Zelenskyy discussed Ukraine's air defense (AOD), defense industry capabilities, and opportunities for joint production with Trump. In addition, they discussed mutual procurement and investments, exchanged views on the diplomatic situation and joint work with America and other partners.
Then Zelenskyy also congratulated Trump and the entire American people on the Independence Day of the US.
It should be noted that the day before, Trump had a telephone conversation with russian leader vladimir putin, which, according to him, did not lead to any progress in efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
In addition, on July 2, White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly reported in a comment to NBC News that the United States had decided to stop the supply of some weapons to Ukraine.
