India closes airspace to Pakistani aircraft for almost month
India has closed its airspace to commercial and military aircraft from Pakistan amid a sharp escalation of tensions between the countries.
The Indian news channel India TV reported this on Wednesday, April 30.
The Indian authorities have published a NOTAM (notice to air traffic controllers) in which they announced the closure of airspace to Pakistani aircraft.
The restriction applies to both civil aviation aircraft and aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force.
According to the published NOTAM, India has closed airspace to Pakistani aircraft from April 30 to May 23, 2025.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on April 30, the Pakistani government said that the country expects an attack from India in the next 24-36 hours.
Shortly before, on May 28, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that Islamabad was considering the possibility of using nuclear weapons in the event of an Indian invasion.
Recall that at the end of April this year, a terrorist attack occurred in the mountainous Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir, as a result of which 26 tourists were killed.
Jammu and Kashmir has been at the epicenter of a territorial struggle between Pakistan and India for the past 70 years.
India said that militants affiliated with Pakistan were involved in the murder of the tourists. Islamabad denied its involvement in the incident.
In response, India withdrew from the Indus Water Treaty, closing the gates on dams located on its territory. Pakistan had previously stated that it would consider such actions as an act of war.
