North Korea sending to russia “thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of artillery shells and hundreds of short-range missiles” – US Indo-Pacific Command head
North Korea is helping the aggressor country russia and sending artillery shells and short-range missiles.
Adm. Samuel Paparo, head of US Indo-Pacific Command, has stated this. His words are quoted by the Associated Press on Thursday, April 10.
"Paparo said North Korea is sending “thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of artillery shells” and hundreds of short-range missiles to Russia. The expectation, he said, is that Pyongyang will get air defense and surface-to-air missile support,” the article says.
He said such cooperation is mutually beneficial for russia and the DPRK, as it helps the two countries support each other and compensate for the shortage of some types of both weapons and other needs. In addition, the commander of the US Armed Forces in Korea, General Xavier Brunson, said that North Korea is sending ammunition and troops to russia, while simultaneously strengthening its own military potential, including hypersonics.
North Korea's efforts to develop advanced nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles "pose a direct threat to our homeland and our allies," Paparo added.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, North Korea is likely to have sent another 3,000 soldiers to russia in January and February for the war against Ukraine.
On February 23, the head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, said that North Korea plans to transfer 148 long-range ballistic missiles KN 23 to the russian federation this year.
In December 2024, the media reported that it was known about artillery installations that North Korea had transferred to russia for use in the war against Ukraine.
