UN refutes Trump's claim that Zelenskyy is "illegitimate"
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is taking office after elections that were properly conducted.
This was stated by Stéphane Dujarric, the official representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres.
His words are quoted by DW on Thursday, February 20.
Dujarric stressed that the UN does not consider the Ukrainian President illegitimate, as US President Donald Trump has stated.
"President Zelenskyy is taking office after properly conducted elections," he told reporters.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 19, US President Donald Trump said that elections should be held in Ukraine, as Volodymyr Zelenskyy allegedly has a low trust rating of 4%.
On February 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on Trump's statement that he allegedly has a trust rating among Ukrainians of 4%. According to Zelenskyy, this is disinformation of russian origin.
On February 20, Congressman Don Bacon (Republican Party) said that Trump "made a mistake" by calling President Volodymyr Zelenskyy "a dictator without elections."
