Energoatom completes repairs ahead of schedule, all power units in operation

On October 9, 11 days ahead of schedule, the Energoatom national nuclear power generating company took another power unit of one of the nuclear power plants (NPPs) out of planned and preventive maintenance.

The Ministry of Energy has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Thus, according to the report, Energoatom successfully completed the 2024 repair campaign and prepared all 9 power units controlled by Ukraine for winter operation.

"This year's repair campaign was of strategic importance. During the summer, planned and preventive repairs were carried out ahead of schedule, which further contributed to the stability of the electricity supply in the most difficult times for the power system," the message states.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 1, Energoatom launched a 1,000 MW NPP power unit ahead of schedule.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not rule out that russia may attack Ukrainian nuclear power plants.

Ukraine has agreed with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to extend the agency's monitoring mission to key substations on which the stable operation of nuclear power plants depends.

A massive attack by the russians on August 26 led to the shutdown of four nuclear units.
