Ukrnaftoburinnya resuming gas production

The Ukrnaftoburinnya private joint-stock company resumes gas production at the Sakhalin field (Kharkiv Region).

The company has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

“The Ukrnaftoburinnya MC PrJSC officially begins resuming its work on the extraction of hydrocarbons at the Sakhalin field in the Kharkiv Region. The Ukrainian Geological Survey published an order that reinstated the company's special permit. Now the company is working to safely and efficiently start up all the equipment and get a flow of natural gas," the message says.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the court allowed the Ukrnaftoburinnya private joint-stock company to resume production at the Sakhalin field.

On December 1, 2023, Ukrnaftoburinnya stopped the production of natural gas and gas condensate at the Sakhalin oil and gas condensate field on December 1, 2023, due to the annulment of a special permit for the use of subsoil.

At the same time, the production of the Ukrnaftoburinnya company amounted to 1.4 million cubic meters of gas per day until the forced stoppage of work on December 1, 2023 by court decision.

In May 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers transferred the corporate rights of Ukrnaftoburinnya to the management of Ukrnafta, the largest oil production company.

In April, the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv transferred the corporate rights of Ukrnaftoburinnya, which were seized as part of criminal proceedings, to the National Agency of Ukraine for finding, tracing and management of assets derived from corruption and other crimes (Asset Recovery and Management Agency – ARMA).

Ukrnaftoburinnya carries out industrial development of the Sakhalin gas field and gas condensate.

In 2022, the company's gas production amounted to 415 million cubic meters (2.2% of total gas production in Ukraine).

Previously, Ukrnaftoburinnya was affiliated with businessmen Vitalii Khomutynnyk and Ihor Kolomoiskyi.
