SACPO Recalls Its Motion For In-Absentia Investigation Against MP Onyschenko

SACPO Recalls Its Motion For In-Absentia Investigation Against MP Onyschenko

The Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office (SACPO) has recalled its motion for carrying-out an in-absentia investigation against non-affiliated member of the Ukrainian Parliament Oleksandr Onyschenko.

Press service of the SACPO has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The SACPO notes that respective motion was filed to the Obolonskyi District Court of Kyiv on November 10, however, as at December 7 it remained unconsidered.

The SACPO accuses the court of purposeful protraction of the case's consideration.

Besides, the SACPO says that Onyschenko's lawyers have appealed against Ukraine's request for Spain to extradite the escaped MP.

The court has partially satisfied the appeal of the lawyers and declare the request for the extradition submitted by the National Anticorruption Bureau (NACB) illegal.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 6, the Solomiyanskyi District Court of Kyiv adjourned consideration of the appeal on special (in-absentia) investigation against Onyschenko until January 16, 2018.

The hearing was adjourned due to failure of lawyers and SACPO prosecutors to attend it.
