Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Valerii Chalyi expects President of the United States Donald Trump to approve allocation of USD 350 million for defense weapons (USD 50 million for lethal weapons inclusive) for Ukraine before year-end.
He said this on the air of 112 Ukraina TV channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
Besides, he confirmed that Ukraine is already receiving lethal weapons under a commercial contract with the United States.
He hopes that the United States will agree with Ukraine's arguments that provision of such weapons is very important today, before presidential election in the Russian Federation scheduled for March 18, 2018.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in November, the U.S. Senate approved draft defense budget for 2018 that envisions allocation of USD 350 million to Ukraine.
