EBRD Decides To Allocate EUR 160 Million To Kharkiv For Kharkiv Metro Expansion Project

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has decided to allocate EUR 160 million to the Kharkiv Metro Company, a municipal enterprise, for expanding the current metro system.

This is said in a posting on the website of the EBRD, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The project was endorsed by the EBRD Board of Directors on November 29.

The loan will be used for construction of a 3.5-kilometer metro line.

The financing will enable construction of two stations, a storage facility, and purchase of rolling stock.

The financing of the EBRD will make EUR 160 million. The total budget of the project is EUR 320 million (the European Investment Bank will allocate EUR 160 million).

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Kharkiv metro has three lines of the total length of 38.1 kilometers.
