The Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plant (NPP, Netishyn, Khmelnytskyi region) estimates a cost of measures required to prolong the time of service of its power unit No.1 at UAH 2.3 billion.

Director General of the NPP Mykola Panaschenko said this at a meeting with members of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Council, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Panaschenko promised that the NPP would take into account worldwide and Ukrainian experience when it upgrades the time of service of the power unit.

The guaranteed time of service of the power unit No.1 expires in December 2018.

The State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine licensed the Energoatom national nuclear energy generating company for operation of the power unit No.3 of the Zaporizhia NPP (Enerhodar, Zaporizhia region) for the period of additional 10 years in the excess of the designed time of service until March 2027.

On November 7, the Khmelnytskyi NPP suspended the power unit No.1 for a scheduled overhaul.

The Khmelnytskyi NPP operates two power units of the VVER-1000 types and total designed capacity of 2,000 MW (commissioned in 1987 and 2004).
