Zaporizhia NPP Puts Power Unit No.1 Back On Stream Monday

 Enerhodar-based Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (Zaporizhia region) put power unit No.1 back on stream on May 22 at 3.51 a.m.

The Zaporizhia NPP announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Four power units are currently in operation at the NPP.

The total capacity of the power units is 3,245 MW.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Energoatom National Nuclear Power Generating Company says that power unit No.1 of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant switched off automatically for unknown reason on May 22 at 3.09 p.m.

The Zaporizhia NPP is the largest energy asset in Ukraine and one the largest in the world. The nuclear power plant has six power units of VVER-1000 type with the total estimated electric capacity of about 6 GW.

Reactor No. 1 was commissioned in December 1984, reactor No. 2 in 1985, reactor No. 3 in 1986, No. 4 in 1987, No. 5 in 1989, and reactor No. 6 was commissioned in 1995.
