The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SACPO) has rejected a petition by the lawyer for the State Fiscal Service's suspended head Roman Nasirov to close the criminal proceedings against him.
SACPO's head Nazar Kholodnytskyi announced this on the 112 Ukraina television channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"We received a complaint and a petition to close the proceedings from Nasirov's lawyer. The said petition was examined and rejected," Kholodnytskyi said.
According to Kholodnytskyi, the petition contained no objective arguments in favor of closing the criminal proceedings.
He added that investigators are currently collecting evidence for preparation of an indictment and stressed that defense lawyers can raise objections, which will be taken into account, but there are currently no justified arguments.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, a Ministry of Health expert commission did not confirm Nasirov's diagnosis from the Feofania clinic.
A court authorized arrest of Nasirov on March 7 and set bail at UAH 100 million.
Nasirov's wife posted the bail of UAH 100 million on March 16.
