Police Release Ukrzaliznytsia's Electricity Supply Department Head Liudmyrskyi Kidnapped In July 2016

Ukrainian police have found and released Valerii Liudmyrskyi, the head of the electricity supply department of the Ukrzaliznytsia public joint stock company, who was kidnapped in July 2016.

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov wrote this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Following several months of hard and painstaking investigative work the police of Kyiv region carried out a brilliant operation and released Valerii Liudmyrskyi kidnapped on July 18, 2016," he wrote.

He says two figures of the case have been arrested.

Police have found a secret place for keeping hostages and weapons, including a Kalashnikov, pistols, explosives.

Police are holding an operation to arrest the organizer of the kidnapping.

According to the statement, police found Valerii Liudmyrskyi in a private house in the village of Fastovets, Kyiv region, on March 26, 2017.

Valerii Liudmyrskyi is undergoing medical treatment in a hospital. Doctors say his life and health is not in danger.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 19, 2016, the National Police of Ukraine opened a case into the kidnapping of Valerii Liudmyrskyi, the head of the electricity supply department of the Ukrzaliznytsia public joint stock company.

The investigation established that kidnappers killed the dog of Valerii Liudmyrskyi and then pushed Liudmyrskyi into a car.
