The European Union has decided to allocate EUR 3 million for satellite reconnaissance to be carried out by the Special Monitoring Mission of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Ukraine.
Press service of the EU Delegation to Ukraine has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini, use of satellites will allow deeper monitoring of the situation in areas inaccessible for SMM observers.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the OSCE prolonged the mandate of the SMM in Ukraine until March 31, 2018.
The decision also set the SMM budget at EUR 105.5 million.
