Rada Asks United States To Sign Defense Agreement With Ukraine, Provide Country With Major Non-NATO Ally Status

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine asks the United States to sign a defense agreement with Ukraine and provide it with the status of a major non-NATO ally.

A total of 232 members of the Ukrainian Parliament adopted the draft resolution No. 6111, while 226 votes were enough to pass the decision, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Respective address to the U.S. Congress notes that providing Ukraine with the said status is a sovereign right of the United States and requires no consensus from all member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Besides, Ukraine expressed its interest in further mutually beneficial economic cooperation with the United States.
