Poroshenko Hoping For Disinflation In 2017

President Petro Poroshenko hopes for slowing of inflation in 2017 to one-digit level.

The President of Ukraine said this at the Monday meeting of the Regional Development Council, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the President, in 2016, real restoration of the Ukrainian economy started.

"In 2016, the GDP rose by 2.2% and in the fourth quarter of 2016, the GDP growth strengthened to 5% a year. That seems to be a little figure however in 2015 the Russian aggression led to its fall of 10%," the President said.

He also noted that last year, industry also started to boost its activity.

The President reminded that Ukrainian industry suffered the war the most.

Poroshenko recalled that recently accumulated international reserves of the country melted increasingly, however today they make USD 15.5 billion.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the NBU considers achievable the indicator of inflation of 8% in 2017.

In January, the NBU worsened inflation outlook from 8% to 9.1% in 2017.
