Russia Holding Large-Scale Military Exercises Of Paratroopers In Crimea

Russian is holding large-scale military exercises of paratroopers with live firing on the territory of the annexed Crimea.

The press service of the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation announced the exercises in its statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The statement reads that the exercises began on the Opuk firing range on March 20, 2017.

The commander of the Russian airborne forces Colonel General Andrei Serdiukov supervises the exercises.

Participating in the military exercises are 2,500 paratroopers and 600 units of combat vehicles.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 2, 2017, the State Border Service of Ukraine announced that Russian troops began military exercises in the self-proclaimed Transnistrian Moldovan Republic and near the administrative border in the annexed Crimea.
