President Petro Poroshenko has enacted the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to suspend cargo transportation across the contact line in Donbas.

The Ukrainian News Agency learnt this from the presidential decree No. 62 dated March 15.

The decision was taken following substantial escalation of security situation in the antiterrorist operation zone, seizure of Ukrainian enterprises located in the territory of Donbas by militants, growth of threats to economic and energy security in view of certain actions of militants, recognition of documents issued by terrorist organizations Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics (DPR and LPR).

The decision is temporary and will be abolished once comprehensive ceasefire regime is restored in Donbas.

The decision does not touch transportation of humanitarian cargoes delivered by Ukrainian and international humanitarian organizations.

Respective presidential decree urges the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to ensure safe and sustainable operation of the fuel-energy and metallurgical sectors, neutralization of threats to economic security and dampening of their consequences for economy and the state budget.

The Ministry of Interior Affairs, National Police, National Guard, State Fiscal Service of Ukraine along with the Security Service of Ukraine are urged to ensure implementation of the decision.

The leadership of the anti-terrorist operation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions is suggested take measures to neutralize possible armed provocations.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Poroshenko has enacted the decision of the NSDC to impose sanctions against five commercial banks with Russian state capital.

The sanctions are imposed against Sberbank, VS Bank, Prominvestbank, VTB Bank and BM Bank.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine is urged to inform competent bodies of the European Union, United States and other states about imposition of sanctions as well as to call on them to take similar measures against respective legal entities.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the National Bank of Ukraine are urged to ensure implementation and monitoring of sanctions' efficiency.

Poroshenko urged the Cabinet of Ministers to immediately take measures to ban placing funds of state-run enterprises, institutions, organizations and economic entities possessing state corporate rights with Sberbank, VS Bank, Prominvestbank, VTB Bank and BM Bank.
