The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has prolonged the state of emergency in the energy sector of Ukraine (emergency measures in the energy market) due March 18 for another month.
Respective decision was taken at the Thursday meeting of the Ukrainian Government, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The emergency measures have been in force since February 17 and were taken in response to total termination of anthracite coal supplies from militant-held territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions to Ukraine.
The state of emergency means temporary blackouts for end consumers of electric energy in Ukraine.
The measures expand authorities of the Ukrenergo national energy company, the central administrator, which obtained the right to manually regulate electric energy production at each and every thermal power plants.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on February 13, anthracite coal supplies from the occupied Donbas to Ukrainian TPPs were terminated.
