Several Russian banks have commenced rendering services to individuals on "passports" of so-called proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic.

Employees of contact centers of the banks told this to Ukrainian News Agency.

"That is correct. One can apply with passport of DPR for servicing," an employee of VTB Bank (Russia) informed Ukrainian News Agency.

An employees of the Russia UniCredit Bank confirmed the fact of services provided to holders of the "passports" of DPR and LPR.

Employees of contact centers of Alfa Bank and OTP Bank said that a holder of the "passports" of DPR and LPR can apply with a written petition to outlets of the banks and the petitions will be considered within time provided by rules.

A number of Russian banks refuse to accept documents of DPR and LPR, including subsidiaries of U.S. and French banks (Citibank and Cetelem).

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Russian President Volodymyr Putin signed a decree recognizing documents issued to citizens of Ukraine permanently residing in the non-government-controlled territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions on February 18, 2017.

The decree provides Russian banks with a right to service clients with such "passports."

Sberbank (Russia) was the first to begin providing services to customers with "passports" issued by the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" and "Luhansk People's Republic."

On March 7, the Russian financial institution said they were ready to service clients with such "passports" at all outlets.
