Eurovision 2017 Organizing Committee Selects Constitution Square To Host Opening Ceremony

The organizing committee for the 2017 Eurovision song contest has selected the Constitution Square as the site of the song contest's opening ceremony.

This was announced in a statement after a meeting of the organizing committee, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"The 'red carpet' ceremony and the grand opening of the Eurovision song contest on May 7," the statement said, citing the contest's creative director Serhii Proskurni.

The length of the red carpet at the opening ceremony will be 265 meters.

A "EuroCity" will be open from May 4 to 14 on Khreschatyk Street.

A stage, a fan zone, and a food court will be located in the "EuroCity."

In addition, a zone for accredited fans and delegations will also be open in the Parkovyi exhibition center from May 4 to 14.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the opening ceremony of the 2017 Eurovision song contest was previously expected to be held in the Art Arsenal national cultural, art and museum complex or on the Sofiyska Square.

The contest will take place at the International Exhibition Center, which is located near Livoberezhna subway station.
