The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine and the Governmental Office for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration ask the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and President Petro Poroshenko to transfer celebration of Europe Day from May 20 to May 14.

Ukrainian News Agency learnt this from respective address of the two authorities.

Holding of the Europe Day is regulated with the Presidential Decree dated April 19, 2003 under which the day is celebrated every third Saturday of May, which is May 20 in 2017.

However, the Eurovision 2017 song contest will be held in Kyiv between May 3 and May 13.

Therefore, the Foreign Affairs Ministry asks to transfer the Europe Day celebrations to May 14 in order to let participants in and guests of the song contest attend festivities of the Europe Day in Kyiv.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2016, the Kyiv City State Administration approved holding of the street music festival on March 21-22.
