Roman Nasirov, the suspended head of the State Fiscal Service accused of power abuse and inflicting losses of UAH 2 billion on the State, insists of his innocence.
He made this statement during the sitting of the Kyiv Court of Appeal considering an appeal against the arrest Nasirov with the bail of UAH 100 million, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"I state once again that I am innocent. I have not committed any crimes," he said.
Nasirov says he has been appointed the head of the State Fiscal Service following a transparent and public competition for the post.
Nasirov says that the National Anticorruption Bureau has not included in the case the statements he made during the interviews at the Anticorruption Bureau in summer 2016.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Nasirov's defense expects that the prosecution will be prolonged for at least four months.
The National Anticorruption Bureau and the Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office plan to complete investigation within the Nasirov case before May 3.
On March 3, 2017, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine suspended Nasirov as the head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.
